The Joan Margarit International Poetry Prize is a joint initiative between Editorial La Cama Sol, the Cervantes Institute and the family of Joan Margarit. It will be destined to award poets from all over the world with a consolidated poetic trajectory, responding to the interest that Joan Margarit always had to make known his favorite international poets in any of his two languages, Catalan and Spanish, translating among others Thomas Hardy, Elizabeth Bishop, Rainero Maria Rilke, and Sharon Olds.

The initiative, which was also born with the aim of making the work of Joan Margarit known in the rest of the world, was launched in the spring of 2023.

“It’s a recognition that encourages art, the only thing that can save ourselves.”
